Spring '64 Music in the Harmoneers and Concert Coral; Mrs. Small's latin classes, especially on the Ides of March. Hanging out with friends at lunch. Looking up books and articles about archaeology in the library. Oakland, California After graduating from BHS, I spent the next four years buring my candle at every end I could possibly find. Eventually, I received my BA anthropology from UC, Berkeley and then an MA from the University of Illinois, Urbana, where I specialized in sub-Saharan Pleistocene prehistory. Illinois is also where I met Romy, my partner in crime for life. After a whirlwind 17 year courtship, we married in 1991. Throughout the 1990s, we lived in Cincinnati. She had a appointment in the Center of Women's Studies at the University of Cincinnati; I was at the School of Public Health and then the National Institute for Occupational Health. One evening I happened to mention how I did not want to die in Cincinnati. Within a year we had returned to the Bay Area. Travel seems to be our passion. We go abroad as much as possible. It is an amazing world, just begging to be seen. At least twice a year we cross the great water. Destinations include anywhere that seems interesting. Travel, movies, reading books on history, Egypt and mysteries. Volunteering at the Anthropoology Museum, and auditing classes (no tests and term papers for me) in the Department of Near Eastern Studies at UC, Berkeley. preston_staley@yahoo.com
